New Orleans poem

New Orleans is the city with a skyline so blue, New Orleans is the city where you meet people with smiles so true. The city with music in its blood, its parties rage on through the rain and mud. New Orleans is the city where you might meet a friend, you have a few drinks with them till you friends till the end. The night life is amazing with jazz and campfires blazing. It’s that one city with your lucky room, the hotel with a no vacancy sign gifts you room number 2 and suddenly it feels like home. Even if you’ve never been there, in New Orleans you’re never alone. People become family and lend a hand, you meet up with them at a bar to go see the local band. You see street performers making their living playing their way of life, you see most of them traveled their way here from fife. You might try a few new meals like crawfish and fries but it gets better when you see that skyline. It looks like it came from a miracle or two, but it’s only a galaxy away. You couldn’t miss it, eve...

Hobo Road Trip

So This is it. You said you used to love me but that was yesterday. So now I'm going to pack up my bags and I'm going to go away. Right before I walk out that door, I'm going to check all my things and wish I could have you more. I understand I have hurt you now and I don't have much to say, so I'll catch a cab up to Parlor bay. See you around the world with regret, every time I see you will be like we just met. Now before you kick me out, didn't my thoughts and feelings used to count? From Alaska to Georgia and beyond, I'll be spending time with buddies and mending a bond. Don't you worry, I won't be drinking a lot, I'll just be staring into space from my cot. I might catch a flight down to New Orleans, make some friends, have fun and anything in-between. Can you please just listen to me, this is not the kind of person that I want to be. Everything I did for you was from love and respect. Please take me back before I wreck. I may be a kite danc...

Down Main Street

Everywhere I look I see it. Bloodied streets, broken glass, and utter chaos. You may not be familiar with this as it is in a rather surprising place: Louisiana. The whole state looks like a Hong Kong protest. No one has hurt me yet, mostly because I choose not to go outside anymore. The last time I went to Baton Rouge, it looked as if a bomb had gone off. That was a few weeks ago. No one recognizes the most iconic city in Louisiana anymore: New Orleans. The place of true Orleanians like Louis Armstrong and John James Audubon. The birth place of jazz and soul music. The home of parties and creole lives. I only know this from the news. I last went to New Orleans a couple of years ago. Everything looked fine, but I knew it wasn't. I saw a strong case of civil unrest, and no one knows what caused it. Right now, New Orleans is not looked upon as the creator of soul and crawfish. Only the creator of mass destruction. I remember what life was like back then, when everything was so simple...
